The KNA Ethics and Human Rights Committee presents, "COVID – 19 Vaccination Update for Nurses: A Panel Discussion," 7 - 8 p.m., Thursday, August 5. Panelists include:


Denise Beach, MS, BSN, RN, executive director, Hopkins County Health Department; 

Valenchia Brown, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, nurse practitioner specialist;

Ruth Carrico, PhD DNP APRN FNP-C FSHEA CIC, professor and family nurse practitioner in the Division of Infectious Diseases and clinical director of the Global Health Center Vaccine and International Travel at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and

Bill McCann, MDiv, BA, chair of the Ethics Committee and director of Pastoral Care, Baptist Health, Madisonville.

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the latest research regarding the efficacy and safety of the COVID – 19 vaccines;
  • Explore the reasons for vaccine hesitancy among nurses and ways to address those issues;
  • Examine the ethical issues surrounding employer mandated COVID – 19 vaccinations and
  • Discuss the ethical issues surrounding nurses not vaccinating themselves for COVID -19.
