This course will provide a brief overview of how vaccines work, global trends in vaccination rates and the effect on disease eradication rates, define vaccine hesitancy and identify factors that drive hesitancy. The course will review changes in vaccine recommendations and schedules for Also, we will explore how nurses and health care professionals can apply evidence based strategies to address patient concerns in order to improve vaccination rates.

Dr. Haltom is the System Director of Pharmacy for Ephraim McDowell Health in Danville KY. She earned her Bachelors of Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Kentucky and her Masters in Business Administration from Campbellsville University. Dr. Haltom is a former President of the Kentucky society of Health System Pharmacists and has led her Ephraim McDowell Pharmacy team in achieving multiple KHA Quality awards and KSHP Innovative Practice awards. She has served as the Kentucky representative to the American Society of Health System Pharmacists House of Delegates two terms.
