KNA’s Apricot Ribbon Campaign Returns in May 2024

What is the Apricot Ribbon Campaign?
As we approach National Nurses Month in May 2024, the Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA) is inviting all Kentuckians to tie apricot-colored ribbons and bows around trees, lamp posts, and any other landmarks to thank our nurses for the positive impact they have on our residents’ health and well-being.

How did the Apricot Ribbon Campaign start?
The KNA first launched the Apricot Ribbon Campaign in 2020 to honor and celebrate Kentucky’s nurses and other healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Apricot ribbons and bows were hung at local hospitals, businesses, nursing schools, and private residences as a visible reminder of how much nurses were valued and appreciated during this challenging time.  Nurses have earned our unending admiration for their heroics in delivering highly skilled, ever-present, supportive care during the pandemic and navigating post-pandemic challenges.

Why the apricot color?
Apricot serves as the color of nursing and displays optimism and warmth.

 
How can you get involved in the Apricot Ribbon Campaign?

• KNA chapters, members, affiliates, and all nursing supporters are encouraged to make apricot-colored "puff-style" bows and display for all to see. This could be a great volunteer activity for nursing students to earn KNA Honor Cord hours, or for others who want to send a thank you to nurses.
  
  
• Apricot ribbon lapel pins are also an easy thing to make and share with team members.
  
  
• Send photos of your bows, lapel pins, etc. to the KNA (admin@kentucky-nurses.org) and include nurse supporters in your area, and/or make a video thanking nurses for all that they do.
  
  
• Post photos of bows and ribbons on social media using the hashtags: #ThankYouNurses #KentuckyNursesRock
  
  
• Encourage businesses, hospitals, residents, etc. in your community participate.
