The Kentucky Nurses Association presents “Nurses and COVID-19:  Exposure, Returning to Work and Immunity” on May 13 – a free program



The Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA) presents, “Nurses and COVID-19:  Exposure, Returning to Work and Immunity,” 11:30AM -1PM, Wednesday, May 13.  To join this free virtual program, click registration and survey

Ruth Carrico, PhD, DNP, APRN, CIC, president of KNA, will facilitate this offering. Dr. Carrico is a professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and serves as clinical director, Vaccine and International Travel Center, Department of. Medicine, Infectious Diseases at U of L. 

This panel will join her:

·        Delanor Manson, MA, BSN, RN, chief executive officer, Kentucky Nurses Association;

·        Andrea Flinchum, MPH, BSN, RN, CIC, State HAI Prevention Program Manager, Kentucky Department of Health;

·        Dawn Balcom, DNP, APRN, nurse practitioner, U of L Physicians – Infectious Diseases and

·        Montray Smith MSN, MPH, RN, LHRM, assistant professor, University of Louisville School of Nursing

The offering will be presented as a virtual class using the ECHO format which includes a 20-minute presentation followed by case studies that help focus the learning. At the conclusion of this presentation participants will be able to:

  1. Describe what we are learning about healthcare worker exposure and its management;
  2. Discuss strategies that impact the nurses’ ability to safely return to work and
  3. Describe current testing methods, their strengths and weaknesses, and new approaches to understanding and impacting immunity including vaccine
