Kentucky Board of Nursing warns nurses of telephone phishing scam

Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) staff members have been notified that some licensees have received phone calls where an individual who poses as a KBN employee in an attempt to solicit personal information. In some instances, publicly available information, such as license number, has been used to try to lend credibility to the claim that they are board staff.
Be advised that KBN staff will never initiate contact with a KBN applicant or licensee by telephone with verbal requests for personal identifying information, such as financial information, date of birth or social security number.
Any phishing scams should be reported to KBN by emailing Michelle.Rudovich@KY.Gov and to the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General via the Scam/ID Theft complaint form: https://secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/AttorneyGeneral/ScamReport.
