SCAM ALERT!
Posted 10 months ago by Sherry Chandler
People posing as law enforcement officers, including from the KBN, have been making calls spoofing the agency's phone number (the call looks like it is coming from the agency) and falsely alleging the recipient is under investigation by the KBN or a local police department, or that they have missed a court date. The callers will have publicly available information, such as prior addresses, workplace information, or a nurse's license number.
PLEASE REMEMBER, when KBN conducts an investigation, a Notice of Complaint is sent in writing to the nurse’s address of record, the notification is never by phone.
If you are the target of a phone scam, do not provide any information, terminate the call immediately. If the caller states they are a KBN investigator, hang up and contact the KBN directly at 502-429-3300 to ask if your license is under investigation. If the caller states they are law enforcement, contact that agency directly.
All KBN investigations are confidential. However, Board staff can confirm the existence of an investigation.
