COLLABORATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Through collaboration with nurse leaders across the state, in my role as KNA president and board chair, we accomplished many goals:
HB 159 Decriminalization of Healthcare Errors bill and law –first in the nation to protect nurses from criminalization of healthcare errors!
Promotion of the Brand Image of Nursing (BIN) outlining all nurses as leaders through research, advocacy, publications, and presentations
HB 176 Workplace Violence Prevention bill and law to promote workplace safety
Implementation of safe staffing committees in Kentucky hospitals and long-term care facilities to give direct care nurses a seat and voice at the table (in progress)
Implementation of the KNA Nurse Legislator Engagement Program pairing KNA members with Kentucky state legislators to serve as a resource and to use their voice to promote change
Increased awareness through social justice initiatives
