Kentucky Nurses Association STARS shine again for the upcoming October 18th Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) induction in Washington DC. So proud of our colleagues and grateful for their sponsors Amanda Fallin-Bennett (Dr. Kristin Ashford & Dr. Ellen Hahn), Jean Edward (Dr. Ellen Hahn and Dr. Lovoria Williams), and Delanor Manson (Dr. Janie Heath & Dr. Vicki Hines-Martin) for their state and national impact as Kentucky nurse leaders creating innovative research, driving health equity programming and making courageous health policy!
Dr. Fallin-Bennett, University of Kentucky College of Nursing faculty and alum, co-founded Voices of Hope (VoH) and has a proactive commitment to support individuals in recovery through multiple NIH funded programs to create and transform peer support and recovery coaching efforts. Her community-infused approach resulted in the creation of ‘The Survivors Union of the Bluegrass’, an advisory group comprised of those persons who use or used drugs.
Dr. Jean Edward, University of Kentucky College of Nursing faculty, pioneered the first oncology financial/legal navigation NIH funded program in the U.S. She has led multi-level, sustained, transformative efforts to alleviate financial toxicity for cancer patients and caregivers. As a Fellow of the Betty Irene Moore Nurse Leaders and Innovators program, her research has also transformed meaningful policy changes at the state and national level.
Delanor Manson, University of Kentucky College of Nursing alum and CEO of KNA, has been a dynamic force leading state and national initiatives to strengthen the Kentucky workforce through innovative programming and courageous health equity advocacy for ~90,000 nurses. She rapidly transformed a struggling organization into a vibrant enterprise consisting of KNA, Kentucky Nurses Foundation (KNF) and the Kentucky Nurses Action Coalition (KNAC).
Congratulations!
